Will Kathleen Sebelius resign?

Let’s start today’s article off by wishing you and your family a happy Halloween! Halloween kicks off the start to the holiday season. Before we know it, turkeys will be on our tables and Santa Claus will be coming down our chimneys. Here at Benefits Age, we understand that family is important and keeping your family safe is a top priority.
You may have heard about the recent “debacle” concerning the government website that is used to sign up for health insurance. Many Americans’ financial information could now be at risk of exposure because the website had only obtained a temporary security certificate. Today, we are going to take a deeper look at if your information is safe and what is being done about it to keep it safe.
The Temporary Certificate
Only under specific circumstances are temporary security certificates given out. In this case, the HealthCare.gov website has been given this temporary security certificate. The site was unable to obtain a permanent security certificate because not all of the site was tested.
The lack of testing caused both Medicare and Medicaid Services to deem the website a “potential high security risk”. The temporary certificate was granted, and according to Benefitspro, was granted so the website could operate.
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius testified on Capital Hill in Washington on Wednesday before the House Energy and Commerce Committee. When questioned, Sebelius explained that “the system was secure, even though the site had a temporary certificate, known in government parlance as an ‘authority to operate’.” In addition, Sebelius said, “a permanent certificate will only be issued once all security issues are addressed.”
Sebelius has made it clear that all the security issues will be taken care of by the 30th of November. While many are calling for her resignation, it remains unclear if they will get it or not.
If you have any concerns about the security of using the government public or private exchange, that is understandable. At Benefits Ages, your security is our priority. “So let me say directly to these Americans, you deserve better. I apologize.”
